Philosophy of Care

We believe mental health care should be equitable, ethical, and accessible, supporting both healing and overall well-being. We recognize the profound impact of stigma, oppression, and discrimination on mental health, and we are committed to practicing in ways that challenge these forces while minimizing harm.

Our approach is grounded in whole-person care, integrating the biological, psychological, and social dimensions of health. We lead with compassion, empathy, and respect, honoring each individual’s lived experience and unique story.

At the heart of our work is the therapeutic relationship. We strive to create a space where patients feel safe, seen, and understood—because trust is essential for meaningful change. Within this relationship, individuals can begin to process trauma, navigate life’s challenges, and move toward greater resilience and wholeness.

Our goal is to partner with patients in a collaborative, thoughtful process that supports self-understanding, healing, and a more fulfilling life.

Therapeutic Style

Our therapeutic approach is grounded in a humanistic–existential framework that honors each person’s lived experience, inherent dignity, and capacity for growth. Across our team, we draw from meaning-centered psychotherapy (logotherapy) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) to support individuals in exploring purpose, clarifying values, and living with greater authenticity and resilience.

We also incorporate psychodynamic principles, recognizing how early experiences, relationships, and unconscious patterns can shape present-day emotions and behaviors. This perspective helps foster deeper self-understanding and insight, supporting lasting change.

Supportive psychotherapy is thoughtfully integrated into medication management visits when clinically appropriate. This collaborative and flexible approach aims to reduce distress, strengthen coping strategies, and improve day-to-day functioning while remaining responsive to each individual’s needs.

Together, these approaches form a compassionate, individualized framework that supports healing, self-understanding, and meaningful, sustainable change.

Clinical Approach

We provide evidence-based, pragmatic psychiatric care guided by current scientific research, clinical expertise, and each patient’s values, goals, and individual circumstances.

Medication management is the foundation of care in our practice. During these visits, we thoughtfully integrate brief, supportive psychotherapy to address symptoms while also attending to the broader emotional and relational context of each person’s experience. This integrated approach allows us to support meaningful change while maintaining a focused, medically grounded model of care.

Psychotherapy-only appointments are rarely accepted. Individuals seeking ongoing, standalone psychotherapy are encouraged to establish care with a dedicated therapist. Resources such as Psychology Today may be helpful in finding a therapist who meets your needs.
